A teacher was fired from her job at a Parker school after she showed students school shooting footage

The incident occurred after a practice lockdown drill because she was upset with students who were talking during the drill. The teacher, who has not been identified, showed two news clips of school shootings that took place in Uvalde, Texas and The Covenant School in Nashville.

Her reason for doing so? According to the school administration, she was upset with students who were talking during the drill and not paying attention.

School officials were quick to reprimand the teacher's actions, stating that it was "completely unacceptable" and not in alignment with their protocol. They also emphasized that they do not tolerate this type of behavior and will take appropriate action to ensure it does not happen again.

The Parker Core Knowledge school, a K-8 charter school in the Douglas County School District, immediately placed the teacher on administrative leave and fired her the following day. They also sent letters home to parents to keep them informed of the incident and offered mental health resources to students who may need extra support.

"The safety and well-being of our students is our top priority," the school said in a statement. "We practice routine lockdown drills to prepare for emergencies, not to traumatize our students. The actions of this teacher are not acceptable and do not reflect our values as a school."

Many parents were shocked and angered by the teacher's actions. "As a parent, I trust that the school will do everything in their power to keep my child safe during a lockdown drill. To purposely show them traumatic footage is beyond unacceptable," said one concerned parent who wished to remain anonymous told one news outlet.

It is unknown at this time if the teacher will face any further consequences, but the school stated that they are working closely with authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of their students. They have also assured families that this type of behavior will not be tolerated in the future.
