Volunteers Discover Surprising 50-Pounds of Gum Under Red Rocks Amphitheatre Seats

In a jaw-dropping revelation, volunteers at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado scraped up an astonishing 50 pounds of gum from underneath the venue's seats last year, leaving the benches looking "amazing and clean," according to the non-profit group Friends of Red Rock.

Red Rocks Amphitheatre, located just outside Denver, is renowned for its star-studded concert lineup, natural acoustics, and breathtaking hiking and biking trails, as highlighted on the venue's website.

The dedicated team at Friends of Red Rock is committed to preserving the magic of this unique location and has been diligently removing gum from under the benches for the past three years.

Every month on the last Saturday, volunteers join forces with rangers for a three-hour cleanup session, tidying up trails, collecting trash, and, of course, scraping up gum, as reported by KDVR.

Despite gum being strictly prohibited inside the amphitheater, it seems some individuals manage to sneak it in their purses or pockets, leading to the sticky situation underneath the seats.

Pia Valeriana, a volunteer with Friends of Red Rock, expressed her hopes for responsible gum chewing and disposal, emphasizing the importance of preserving this natural wonder.

"We just want people to be aware and not take this place for granted," Valeriana said. "This is a unique place." Even during the winter months when there are no events, volunteers still find gum, which highlights the need for increased awareness and respect for the venue.

Red Rocks Amphitheatre holds a significant place in the hearts of many, and it is more than just a concert venue.
