Lauren Boebert's Inappropriate Joke Falls Flat, Highlighting a Series of Scandals and Questionable Behavior
Lauren Boebert, the “seat shopping” Colorado congresswoman, attempted to brush off a recent scandal with a tasteless joke during a district event. Her inappropriate behavior and multiple scandals have raised concerns about her suitability for public office.
Speaking to Baca County Republicans on January 5, Boebert introduced herself and attempted to make light of her actions. She said, "Many of you know who I am... I don't have to ask like the ushers at the Buell Theater."
This remark referred to a scandal in September when Boebert was caught on film engaging in lewd behavior during the family friendly musical ‘Beetlejuice.’ The surveillance footage showed her being fondling by her date while her hand was in his lap, vaping, and even raising her middle finger at theater employees when asked to leave. Theater representatives quoted her as saying, "Do you know who I am?"
Initially, Boebert denied the allegations, claiming she had thoroughly enjoyed the "AMAZING Beetlejuice" and denying any vaping. However, faced with mounting evidence, she eventually pleaded guilty to "laughing and singing too loud."
Her campaign manager, Drew Sexton, attempted to downplay the scandal by emphasizing Boebert's supposed support for the performing arts. However, the incident only served to highlight her lack of judgment and inappropriate behavior.
Despite offering an apology and acknowledging that her behavior fell short of her values, Boebert's actions raise serious questions about her fitness for public office. It is concerning that she would engage in such behavior and attempt to make light of it when addressing constituents.
Surveillance footage shows Rep. Boebert's then-boyfriend fondling her breasts while she had her hand in his lap. Boebert was in the midst of a divorce from her husband of 18 years.
Moreover, Boebert's scandals extend beyond the Beetlejuice incident.
She recently announced her intention to step down from her seat in the Centennial state to replace fellow Republican Ken Buck, who plans to retire later this year. Boebert attributed her decision to a difficult year for her and her family, including a divorce.
“I’m moving for a new personal start,” she told the crowd was her reason for want their vote.

However, even her personal life has become embroiled in controversy. Silt Police Chief Mike Kite confirmed an ongoing investigation into an incident at a restaurant involving Boebert and her ex-husband. Boebert was accused of punching her ex in the nose during the public meeting. She has denied allegations of physical violence, stating that she will consult with her lawyer regarding the false claims made against her.
The accumulation of scandals and questionable behavior raises serious doubts about Boebert's ability to effectively represent her constituents – in either CD3 or CD4. Critics believe her lack of judgment, inappropriate jokes, and ongoing controversies indicate a disregard for the responsibilities of public office.
