Ken Buck blasts his party’s hardliners for ‘lying to America’

Conservative Congressman Ken Buck calls out fellow Republicans for ‘lying to America’ about election claims.

Buck is not mincing words when it comes to calling out fellow conservatives for, what he says are ‘perpetuating lies about the 2020 presidential election.’ During an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday, Buck slammed those who continue to push the baseless claim that the election was stolen from former President Donald Trump.

Buck, a member of the Trump-aligned House Freedom Caucus, didn’t hold back in his criticism, stating, “Everybody who thinks that the election was stolen or talks about the election being stolen is lying to America.”

He also called out those who have downplayed the violent attack on the Capitol on January 6th, saying, “Everyone who makes the argument that January 6th was just an unguided tour of the Capitol is lying to America.”

This is not the first time Buck has spoken out against his party’s refusal to accept the results of the election and condemn the events of January 6th.

In a video announcing his decision not to seek reelection in 2024, Buck stated, “Too many Republican leaders are lying to America.” In his recent interview, he specifically called on his party to defeat President Joe Biden with “someone who’s not lying to the country.”

Buck did not mention Trump by name, but his remarks were directed at the former president who has continued to spread false claims about the election and has even gone as far as calling the January 6th rioters “hostages.”

When asked about House Speaker Mike Johnson, who led an effort to overturn the election results, Buck noted that he had signed onto the amicus brief in support of the move. However, he made it clear that the attempt to stop the counting of votes on January 6th was unacceptable.

Buck also addressed the recent removal of Rep. Kevin McCarthy as House Speaker, stating that Speaker Johnson is “doing a good job” handling the challenges created during McCarthy’s time in office. He expressed confidence that Johnson will not face the same backlash from fellow Republicans as McCarthy did.

In his closing remarks, Buck implored his party to unite and focus on defeating President Biden in the 2024 election. He stressed the importance of doing so with someone who is not spreading false information to the American people.

Rep. Ken Buck is not running for re-election.
