A Woke Denver Cancels A Four Decades Old Labor Day Tradition
Once again, the liberal elites in Colorado have made a decision that disappoints hard-working Colorado families by canceling one of their favorite Labor Day weekend traditions — Taste of Colorado.
This year, the Downtown Denver Partnership has announced that they will not be holding the annual event, which has been a tradition for years, celebrating the food, artisans, musicians, and vendors of the Centennial State.
But instead of keeping this cherished event as it has always been, the four decade old Taste of Colorado event was incorporated into a new downtown Denver experience called ¡Viva! Streets.
This so-called "experience" closed off 3.5 miles of Denver streets to cars on select days throughout the summer. The Denver Downtown Partnership claims that the goal of ¡Viva! Streets is to encourage people to engage with their community through exercise, entertainment, and food.
"Thank you to everyone who came out to Taste of Colorado at ¡Viva! Streets Denver!" the partnership said on its website. "We will not be having an event over Labor Day weekend this year. Check back later for updates regarding upcoming events!"
It's clear that the liberal agenda has taken priority over the desires of the people. The Taste of Colorado festival was canceled in 2020, and when it returned in 2022, it was transformed into a downtown-wide format.
The Denver Downtown Partnership said the goal of ¡Viva! Streets was to invite city-goers to "walk, bike, roll, jog, scoot, or dance down activated streets in the heart of our city and connect with community through exercise, entertainment, and food."
Perhaps with the progressive evolution of Taste of Colorado it should be renamed the unappetizing — Taste of Denver.
