Will America Be Next? Urgent Calls for Border Security Amid Hamas Attacks

As Israel continues to face a deadly wave of attacks from Palestinian terrorist group Hamas, the United States is being urged to take immediate action to secure its own borders and prevent a similar attack from taking place on American soil.

According to internal Customs and Border Protection data, over the last two years, thousands of individuals from countries linked to terrorism, including the Middle East, have been arrested while attempting to cross the U.S. southern border illegally. These individuals are known as "special interest aliens" and are considered a potential national security threat to the U.S.

Number of people on terrorist watchlist stopped at southern U.S. border has risen. So far in fiscal year 2023, 160 migrants whose identities match those on the list have been stopped trying to cross the U.S.-Mexico border, compared to 100 in 2022.

The data shows that between October 2021 and October 2023, Border Patrol agents encountered over 6,000 individuals from Afghanistan, over 3,000 from Egypt, 659 from Iran, and 538 from Syria. These individuals are coming in through a border that is "totally open" according to former President Donald Trump, who compared the situation to the attack on Israel this past weekend.

Former President Donald Trump on Monday compared Hamas, the group responsible for the attacks in Israel over the weekend, to immigrants coming to the U.S.-Mexico border, making the comments both in a post on Truth Social and during a campaign speech in New Hampshire.

"The same people that raided Israel are pouring into our once beautiful USA, through our TOTALLY OPEN SOUTHERN BORDER, at Record Numbers," Trump wrote. "Are they planning an attack within our Country? Crooked Joe Biden and his BOSS, Barack Hussein Obama, did this to us!"

On Sunday, Nikki Haley tied Iran to the attacks on Israel and suggested Iran might also look to attack the United States across what she called an open border. NBC's Kristen Welker / Meet The Press.

In an interview with NBC's Kristen Welker, GOP presidential hopeful Nikki Haley called on America to "wake up" and not wait for another 9/11-style attack. She also highlighted the risk of America being distracted and divided, as it is currently, making the country vulnerable to attack.

The current influx of migrants at the southern border is not just a humanitarian issue, but a national security threat.

Kevin McCarthy, the former House Speaker, warned that known terrorists have already been identified among those claiming to be migrants, and that this is a "wake up call" for the White House.

And as Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona pointed out, there are fears that Hamas sleeper cells have already made their way into the country under the Biden administration's lenient immigration policies.

Border Patrol sources have also expressed concerns about the lack of vetting for migrants from special interest countries as their home countries do not share data with the U.S.

The recent surge of migrants has also put a strain on cities like Denver, which has had to alter its policies to accommodate the increase in arrivals. According to Denver, over 21,000 migrants have been served at a cost of $26 million, with an average of nearly 300 new arrivals daily.

This situation is not sustainable and poses a threat to national security. The Department of Homeland Security's threat assessment has already warned about the potential for terrorists and criminal actors to exploit the open border and enter the U.S.

Hamas's armed wing said on Monday it will begin executing an Israeli civilian captive in return for any new Israeli bombing of civilian houses without pre-warning. "From this hour, any targeting of our people in the safety of their homes, without warning, will be met with the execution of civilian hostages, which will be broadcast with video and audio," Hamas armed wing spokesman Abu Ubaida said.

The Biden administration's move to waive regulations and build a border wall in South Texas shows that even they recognize the urgent need to secure the border.

As Israel struggles to defend itself against barbarous attacks, America must take immediate action to prevent a similar assault from happening here. The safety and security of American citizens must be the top priority.
