Viral Video of Rep. Lauren Boebert's Past Remarks Praising President Obama Sparks Controversy
A decade-old clip of Representative Lauren Boebert referring to former President Barack Obama as "my president" has resurfaced, creating a buzz on social media. The resurfaced video has ignited a debate, pointing out what some perceive as hypocrisy in Boebert as true conservative.
Boebert, a vocal Republican currently representing Colorado's 3rd Congressional District, has made headlines for her confrontational approach towards President Joe Biden. She famously heckled Biden during his 2022 State of the Union address and has faced criticism for expressing the hope that Biden's "days be few" during a church event in 2023.
However, the recently circulated clip reveals a different tone from Boebert in a July 2014 appearance on CNN, years before she entered politics. The interview took place during a discussion about Boebert's now-closed Colorado restaurant, Shooters Grill, known for its wait staff openly carrying firearms while serving customers.

During the interview, CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin asked Boebert about the decor of Shooters Grill, which included a hung copy of the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights.
Baldwin also mentioned a sign in the restaurant declaring that patrons were "proudly clinging to my guns and Bible." This led Baldwin to inquire if the sign was a direct jab at Obama, referencing a comment he made during his 2008 campaign about people in rural areas clinging to guns and religion.
In response, Boebert firmly stated, "No, I would never do anything to disrespect my president. I believe it is an office that is in place by God, and I would never say anything to disrespect him."
She further explained that she obtained the sign from a local store, initially unaware of any connection to Obama's comments. Boebert clarified that a friend had actually bought the sign for her, and she found it fitting.
The resurfaced clip, shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the political commentary account PatriotTakes, has gained significant attention, accumulating over 365,000 views at the time of this writing.

The reemergence of this video has sparked controversy, with critics arguing that Boebert's past remarks contradict her recent behavior towards President Biden. Some have labeled her actions as hypocrisy, suggesting that her hardline Republican stance do not align with her previous statements about respecting the office of a Democrat president.
As the discussion continues, it remains to be seen how this resurfaced video will impact Boebert's attempt to carpetbag into the 4th Congressional District.
