Victims Names Released In Tragic Shooting at University of Colorado, Campus Mourns Loss
The victims of Friday's shooting at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs have been identified by law enforcement as 26-year-old Celie Rain Montgomery of Pueblo and 24-year-old Samuel Knopp of Parker.
The two individuals were discovered deceased in a room in the Crestone House in Alpine Village by UCCS police following reports of gunshots.
Samuel Knopp, a registered student at UCCS, and Celie Rain Montgomery, who was not affiliated with the university, were at the center of this tragic incident that has left the campus community reeling.
As the investigation continues, officials have refrained from disclosing further details about the case, emphasizing that there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
Authorities have clarified that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident involving individuals known to each other, dispelling concerns of a random attack targeting the school or other students at the university. The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has classified the deaths as homicides and ruled out the possibility of a murder-suicide scenario.
Despite the somber atmosphere on the campus, UCCS is set to resume normal operations and classes on Tuesday, signaling a collective resolve to move forward amidst adversity. As the community grapples with the profound loss, the university has announced a healing walk scheduled to commence at 2 p.m. on Monday, starting at the Roaring Fork dining hall.
