Rep. Lauren Boebert’s Campaign on Edge as Democratic Challenger Appears to Gain Ground

Recent emails from Rep. Lauren Boebert's Colorado Congressional campaign have raised concerns about her reelection. Sent between August 28th and August 30th, the emails discussed polling data indicating that Boebert was trailing her potential Democratic opponent, Adam Frisch, by 2 percentage points. This data worried Republicans, as the 3rd Congressional District is historically Republican-dominated.

One email expressed urgency, stating that losing the seat to Democrats was a possibility if things didn't turn around quickly. Kellyanne Conway also sent an email claiming that Boebert was being "pummeled" by Frisch.

The mentioned poll, conducted by Keating Research and released on August 22, showed 50% support for Frisch and 48% for Boebert among likely 2024 voters. The poll had a margin of error of 3.5%.

The emails emphasized Frisch's fundraising success, as he raised $4.4 million, ranking fourth among over 1,200 congressional candidates. In contrast, Boebert raised $1.6 million, placing her 30th in fundraising rankings.

Concerns were expressed that the fundraising trends could make Boebert's race more challenging before the 2024 election. However, Boebert's campaign manager highlighted Frisch's past primary struggles and multiple Democratic challengers.

Apart from Frisch, there are at least three other Democratic challengers, including Grand Junction Mayor Anna Stout and first-time candidates David Karpas and Adam Withrow. Gunnison veterinarian Debby Burnett, who initially announced her candidacy, recently withdrew from the race. On the Republican side, Jeff Hurd, a Grand Junction attorney, joined the Boebert race, while Russ Andrews from Carbondale is also seeking to unseat the incumbent.
