In the aftermath of pandemic-era policies that closed schools and left students grappling with severe learning setbacks, parents have grown increasingly disillusioned with the dismal status quo.

While school districts like Douglas County have managed to surpass pre-pandemic outcomes, the stark reality is that most districts are mired in a perpetual struggle to make up for rampant learning loss.

In Denver, a staggering 60% are falling below English proficiency standards, as 70% trail in math. Once known for excellence, Cherry Creek Schools have plummeted — with less than 50% meeting or exceeding English expectations and just 40% proficient in math.

Let’s be real: School districts aren’t just letting Colorado kids down. They’re failing them.

If the pandemic and its fallout taught us anything, it’s that students shouldn’t be at the mercy of an immovable school or district for their education. When schools fail to meet students’ needs, parents must be able to move their child to the school environment that’s best for them.
