Mitt Romney Names The 2 Republican Presidential Candidates He Won't Support

In an exclusive interview with CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell, Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) made it clear who he won’t be voting for in the next presidential election.

According to Sen. Romney, despite being a member of the Republican Party, there are two candidates that Romney simply cannot support: former President Donald Trump and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy.

When asked about Trump’s potential bid for re-election, Romney didn’t hold back.

He stated that a Trump victory in 2024 would be “devastating for our country.” This comes as no surprise, as Romney has been vocal about his disapproval of Trump in the past.

But it’s not just Trump that Romney won’t be casting his vote for. He went on to mention Vivek Ramaswamy, a businessman and political commentator, as another individual he cannot support.

While Romney did say he’d be “happy” to vote for most of the current Republican candidates, he made it clear that Ramaswamy was not one of them.

Romney didn’t rule out voting for a Democrat, stating that it would be an upgrade from both Trump and current President Joe Biden. This statement has gained renewed attention after Ramaswamy shared the clip-on social media, with the comment “Not surprising.”

This isn’t the first time Romney has turned his back on the Republican nominee.

In the 2016 and 2020 elections, he did not vote for Trump and instead wrote in his wife, Ann Romney. And it seems like Romney is sticking to his principles, stating that he would likely vote for his wife again if the 2024 election is a rematch of 2020.
