Manhunt Underway for Escaped Inmate in Jefferson County

An inmate has escaped from the Jefferson County Detention Facility and the search is on. Jeremy Buchanan, who was incarcerated on multiple charges, managed to flee from the facility while working in the kitchen on September 30TH at 5:20 p.m.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Buchanan is a dangerous criminal who should not be approached. He has a long list of charges against him, including motor vehicle theft, possession of a controlled substance, and violation of parole.

Buchanan is also a known fugitive as he failed to appear in court for additional charges of possession of a controlled substance, dangerous drugs, and a traffic offense. He also has a history of resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer.

He was booked into the jail back in June and has been in custody ever since. The Sheriff's office has released his mugshot and a surveillance image from the day of his escape, which shows him without his signature facial hair.

The inmate worker was homeless and living in Denver before being apprehended and sent to jail. The search for Buchanan is spanning across multiple jurisdictions as authorities fear he may have fled to other areas. The Sheriff's office is urging anyone with information on Buchanan's whereabouts to immediately call 9-1-1.

Buchanan left the kitchen and entered a supply room. He then exited the building through a delivery door and climbed over a fence.
