Man arrested for allegedly threatening to assassinate Vivek Ramaswamy
A man has been arrested for allegedly making threats to kill Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy and his supporters at a campaign event.
The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Tyler Anderson, came to the attention of law enforcement after he responded to a text message about an upcoming campaign event, according to court records.
Ramaswamy's staff reported Anderson to the police, leading to his arrest.
The details of the threats align with an event that took place in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, where Ramaswamy was present. The campaign confirmed that Ramaswamy was the target of the threat.
In his response to the text invitation, Anderson allegedly wrote, "Great, another opportunity for me to blow [Ramaswamy's] brains out."
Screenshots included in the complaint also show a second message from Anderson stating, "I'm going to kill everyone who attends and then f*** their corpses."
Law enforcement found these deleted text messages after conducting a search of Anderson's home and seizing his phone. Ramaswamy's campaign spokesperson, Tricia McLaughlin, expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their swift action and emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of all Americans.
McLaughlin also highlighted the media's selective coverage of threats against Republicans, noting that when the target is a Republican, the media often remains silent. She criticized the tendency to demonize Republicans and question their loyalty to the country, which she believes can fuel extremism and violence. McLaughlin further pointed out the media's failure to acknowledge their role in stoking hatred and violence by constantly questioning Republican motives and patriotism.

According to the complaint, Anderson also sent threatening messages to another candidate, though the identity of the candidate is unknown. The search of Anderson's phone reportedly revealed messages stating, "hope you have the stamina for a mass shooting!"
Tyler Anderson made his first appearance in federal court on Monday afternoon. Ramaswamy, when asked about his concerns for his safety, expressed confidence in his team and the support of his family. He acknowledged the importance of remaining vigilant but reassured that he was on this journey with his loved ones, praying for their family and the country.
