Ken Buck Becomes Late Night Punchline

The Colorado Republican Party, which Buck once led as its chairman, threw its weight behind Jordan on Wednesday and urged supporters in an email to contact Buck about his vote.

Amidst the chaos and turmoil in the House of Representatives, Rep. Ken Buck has found himself at the center of a heated battle for the position of Speaker.

Known for his unwavering conservative beliefs and fiery rhetoric, Buck has become a punchline for late-night comedians and a source of contention for his fellow Republicans. But as Buck faces threats and personal consequences for his stance on the speaker issue, he appears to remain resolute and unafraid to stand up for what he believes in.

A Buck spokesman confirmed Thursday that the congressman has received credible death threats and has received an eviction notice for Buck’s office in Windsor. Staff has been told to vacate the office within 30 days. The spokesman declined to comment on whether there had been any arrests related to the threats or if the congressman increased his security.

Buck's refusal to support Rep. Jim Jordan for Speaker has not only caused division within the party, but also resulted in threats and eviction from his district office. Despite this, Buck remains steadfast in his belief that the next Speaker should acknowledge President Biden's victory in the 2020 election. His stance may not be popular among the fringe of his party, but Buck appears not willing to backdown.

Recently, late-night host Seth Meyers couldn't resist poking fun at Buck, using clips of Republicans and Fox News hosts criticizing the chaos in the House and even suggesting giving the gavel to a TV personality.

Late-night host Seth Meyers couldn’t resist poking fun at Buck, using clips of Republicans and Fox News hosts criticizing the chaos in the House and mocking the speaker position as a punishment on the show "Impractical Jokers." Meyers even suggested giving the gavel to the show's host, James "Murr" Murray, and letting his co-stars control him through an earpiece.

In an interview with NBC News anchor Kristen Welker, Buck revealed that he has received four death threats and has been evicted from his district office in Colorado. This comes after a "constant barrage" of phone calls from constituents regarding his stance on the speaker issue. (NBC)

Rep. Buck's stance has also caused tension within the Republican party, with the Colorado Republican Party urging supporters to contact Buck and change his vote. But Buck remains unswayed, even as his fellow Republican representatives cast their votes for a different candidate.

In the midst of all this, the House failed once again to elect a Speaker, with Jordan falling short yet again.

Buck, meanwhile, remains firm and undeterred by the pressure and criticism. As the House plans to reconvene on Monday, it remains to be seen who will come out on top in this struggle for Speaker.
