Governor Polis Probes Improperly Disclosed Mental Health Institution Inspections in Colorado

Colorado Governor Jared Polis has launched an investigation into potential warnings about unscheduled audits at mental health institutions, specifically targeting Johnstown Heights Behavioral Health. Disturbing issues, including policy breaches and an unexplained death, were uncovered by Denver7's investigative reports.

While apparently not eager to sit down with Denver 7, investigative reporter Tony Kovaleski ambushes Governor Polis outside a public event.

Governor Polis has responded by setting up a hotline and email service for the public to report misconduct, as part of his efforts to improve mental health care in the state.

The investigation is looking into claims that the Department of Public Health and Environment, overseen by Governor Polis, may have improperly disclosed inspection details to the institution, which goes against policy and will be addressed.
