Fox News Forced to Walk Back ‘Terrorist Attack’ Claim at Rainbow Bridge

As chaos and confusion unfolded at the New York-Canada border on Wednesday afternoon, one news network seemed to jump the gun in their coverage of the incident.

Fox News, known for its hard-hitting conservative reporting, declared that the explosion on the border bridge was an “attempted terrorist attack,” sending shockwaves through its viewers and those following the story.

Fox News begins pulling back coverage after being in wall-to-wall coverage.

Fox News correspondent Alexis McAdams, reporting from the scene, fueled the speculation with her claims of high-level police sources confirming the incident as an act of terror. This led to a heightened state of alert as law enforcement officials investigated the crash, which was initially believed to have been a deliberate attempt at causing harm.

However, as more information emerged, it became clear that the explosion was not a terrorist attack.

In fact, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul stated in a press conference that there was "no indication" of terrorism. Reuters also reported that the crash was likely caused by a reckless driver, and there were no secondary explosives found at the scene.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul says there was "no indication" of terrorism during a press conference hours after the crash and reports of an explosion. Also, a witness talks to the news media.

Despite this, Fox News continued to run on-air graphics and hold discussions linking the incident to terrorism, even going as far as speculating about possible connections to the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and illegal immigration.

Former Trump administration official Morgan Ortagus even invoked the jihadist group ISIS in her analysis of the incident.

As the truth behind the incident began to emerge, Fox News was forced to retract their initial reporting, with McAdams admitting that things were "changing minute-by-minute" and that there was no conclusive evidence to support a terrorist attack.

The network quietly changed their on-screen chyron to read "Motive Unclear in Incident at NY-Canada Border."
