Former Congressman Scott Tipton Endorses Jeff Hurd, Boebert's former lone GOP challenger in Colorado's 3rd District
Former Representative Scott Tipton, who was unseated by Representative Lauren Boebert three years ago, is endorsing Jeff Hurd in the GOP primary for Colorado's 3rd Congressional District. This endorsement comes as a clear signal that Tipton either believed a change was necessary for the district or holds a political grudge.
Either way, with Boebert “seat shopping” in CD4, Tipton got the change he was hoping for.

"We are proud to endorse Jeff to represent Colorado's 3rd Congressional District," stated the Tiptons. "This district needs a serious and hardworking leader of character to fight for our agricultural producers, ensure we protect Colorado's water, grow our energy sector, deliver on much-needed economic development projects, and honorably serve our western and southern Colorado home. Jeff is the only candidate to unify the district and keep the seat Republican."
Tipton, who served five terms in the seat before being defeated by Boebert in a political upset during the 2020 primaries, threw his support behind Hurd before Boebert announced her decision to switch races.
Despite Boebert's depiction of herself as “the MAGA candidate” during her campaign, former President Donald Trump had consistently endorsed Tipton, calling him a "great supporter of the MAGA agenda."
This endorsement comes on the heels of Boebert's surprising decision to abandon her House district and instead run in the safer Colorado's 4th district, to avoid a rematch against Democrat Adam Frisch. Frisch, who ran a stronger than expected campaign against Boebert in the previous midterms and turned the contest into the most competitive House race in the nation, has significantly outraised Boebert.
Rep. Lauren Boebert's night inside a Denver theater was way more handsy than she originally copped to. In the 910/2023 surveillance video clip -- recorded during a performance of "Beetlejuice,” Boebert's date first reaches over to fondle her right breast, and almost immediately she puts a hand in between his legs. This while Rep. Boebert is asked repeatedly to stop vaping during the performance by a pregnant woman behind her.
"Boebert is running scared from CD-3 because she knows she can't match our campaign's ability to connect with voters and the hard work we have to put in to provide them with a commonsense voice in Congress," stated Frisch's campaign.
Hurd, a relatively unknown Grand Junction attorney, has been gaining significant traction since announcing his run-in mid-August, almost matching Boebert's fundraising in the third quarter, despite having half the amount of time.

Boebert's departure from the race has left both Democrats and Republicans recalibrating their strategies. Without the MAGA star in the contest, Boebert's primary challengers may have a better chance of retaining the seat for the GOP. However, Republicans will need to run a solid campaign to beat Frisch, given his experience and fundraising abilities, according to most political insiders.
Colorado's 3rd district is anticipated to be one of the most competitive House races in the 2024 election. Under a mountain of criticism from Republicans, Boebert is now aiming to fill the vacancy left behind by Representative Ken Buck in Colorado's 4th District, the second most conservative district in the state.
