The day after Thanksgiving, while most Americans are still recovering from their turkey coma and hunting for Black Friday deals, plumbers across the nation will be hard at work on what has now been coined as 'Brown Friday'.

Yes, you heard that right folks, it's the unofficial holiday for plumbers, and let's just say it's not necessarily a fun one.

According to a recent report from Yelp, the most clogged up city in America last year is none other than Portland, Oregon. The town experienced a whopping 23 percent increase in plumbing searches within the seven days after Thanksgiving.

Talk about a post-holiday blowout!

But don't worry, Portland, you're not alone. Other cities also made the list including Raleigh, North Carolina and Indianapolis, Indiana, both tied at 21 percent, and Jacksonville, Florida at 18 percent.

And let's not forget about California, which maybe not-so-surprisingly had a total of five cities on the list - Sacramento, San Jose, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego. Looks like the Golden State might need a new title.

So, what's causing all these clogged pipes and leaky toilets?

Well, according to Yelp trend expert Tara Lewis, it's all the cooking oils and food scraps being dumped down the drain, along with the increased usage of toilets and sinks from out-of-town guests.

But wait, there's more! Lewis also advises to keep a close eye on water usage and to watch out for any leaks, especially when the weather gets colder.

Lewis suggests using sink strainers to catch any food scraps and reminding guests to only flush safe items down the toilet. And for those who are really feeling the holiday spirit, use all available bathrooms to spread out the burden. Because nothing screams happy holidays like a clogged toilet.
