The Denver Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is facing harsh criticism and pushback after declaring their unwavering support for the terrorist group Hamas over the weekend. This statement, made exactly one week after Hamas launched a deadly attack on Israel, has sparked outrage and condemnation from progressive legislators and officials in Colorado.

Both members of the DSA, Representative Javier Mabrey (D-Denver) and Representative Lorena Garcia (D-Adams County) were quick to distance themselves from the Denver DSA's statement, with Mabrey calling it "disappointing" and "unacceptable."

Mabrey went on to say, "We must reject violence and terrorism in all its forms and value the sanctity of human life. The actions of Hamas, including the murder and hostage taking of innocent civilians, can never be justified."

In her first of several online non-statements, Rep. Garcia also expressed her disappointment and sadness at the group's stance, stating that "violence is exploitation and oppression and all violence should be rejected." Though she seemed to quickly backtrack in later statements.

But the Denver DSA's support for a known terrorist organization did not stop there. In earlier posts on social media, Mabrey and other officials condemned the current conflict between Israel and Hamas while also calling for an end to the oppression and occupation of Palestine. However, they made it clear that this does not excuse Hamas' actions or violence against innocent civilians.

The ‘apology video’ is Hernández’s second public statement since he attended the rally outside of the state Capitol on Oct. 7th -- the same day that Hamas killed hundreds of people in Israel and kidnapped scores more.

Newly-appointed Representative Tim Hernández faced national backlash for attending a rally in support of Palestinian resistance, which featured a flyer proclaiming that "resistance is justified when people are occupied."

The Marxist later apologized and condemned Hamas' actions in a social media post that many have compared to ‘a hostage video’ -- meaning that the video and apology were clearly made under duress.

On Sunday, Aurora mayoral candidate Councilman Juan Marcano added his name to list of politicians condemning Denver DSA’s statement, says he’s canceling his membership in the extremist organization.

The Denver DSA, in their statement, blamed Israel for the conflict and demanded an end to U.S. aid to the country, the lifting of the blockade in Gaza, and the right for Palestinians to return to their homeland. They also called on their endorsed candidates to adopt this position and urged chapters to stand with Palestine and participate in demonstrations.

This extreme stance by the Denver DSA, which has gained influence in Colorado over the years, is facing severe backlash from both sides of the political spectrum. Critics are calling out the group's support for a terrorist organization and its one-sided view of the conflict, ignoring the violent actions of Hamas that sparked the recent escalation.

The Denver DSA's support for Hamas and their disregard for innocent lives is a concerning and dangerous position, and one that should be rejected by all Americans.
