Colorado State Republican Party Chair Dave Williams is no stranger to controversy. With each passing week, new revelations emerge that further tarnish his reputation and raise questions about his ethics and honesty.

The latest controversy involves Williams' business dealings with China during the COVID-19 pandemic, which has sparked criticism within the state Republican Party.

Recent news reports have revealed that Williams' family business, MKW Global Sourcing, has engaged in extensive trade with China, with nearly 1,100 imports recorded over a decade. These findings, uncovered by CBS Colorado's Shaun Boyd through U.S. Customs trade records, shed light on Williams' close ties to China.

Of the 1,100 imports made by MKW Global Sourcing between 2008 and 2020, all but 11 were from China. This revelation has struck a chord with many Republicans who find it troubling that Williams would engage in business with China, especially during the years of COVID-19 mandates.

Interestingly, it is Williams' connections to China that have resonated the most with Republicans, despite numerous other controversies surrounding his leadership. From allegations of weaponizing the party and its assets to his inability to fundraise and his diminishing of the Colorado Republican Party's stature and brand, none of these issues have had the same impact as his business dealings with China – Not even him paying himself $12k a month.

In a recent online flash poll conducted by News9mm, respondents were asked to suggest a nickname for Williams in light of his family's enrichment from trading with China. The winning nickname, chosen by 44% of respondents, was "Dim Sum Dave." This result raises the question of when Colorado Republicans will grow tired of being the subject of statewide political jokes.
