A 67-year-old Colorado woman was viciously attacked by an "aggressive" mule deer outside her home in Silver Cliff just 50 miles from Pueblo.

The woman suffered a puncture wound to her leg and horrific bruising before managing to escape back inside her house. Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) officials are now on the hunt for the deer and will euthanize it if located.

A Colorado woman suffered a gruesome puncture wound after being gored by a mule deer.

The attack occurred on Saturday evening when the woman encountered a small mule deer buck with two spikes on each antler. The deer charged at her, causing a puncture wound to her left leg and severe bruising on her right leg. The victim was fortunate to make it back inside her home safely before seeking medical attention.

CPW revealed that two young bucks were seen sparring in the woman's yard, a common behavior during mating season.

The sudden aggression displayed by the deer indicates a possible loss of fear towards humans. Officials suspect that someone may have been feeding the deer, leading it to associate humans with a source of food.

Upon investigation, CPW found a bird feeder in the yard, and the victim confirmed that she feeds birds and had thrown out bread earlier that day. They emphasized the importance of treating wild animals as such and giving them the space they need.

Fortunately, the woman's injuries were not more severe, but the incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers associated with wildlife encounters.
