Colorado leaders join pro-Israel rally in Denver
Sunday, the Colorado state Capitol was filled with hundreds of people who came together for a common cause – to show their support for Israel and its people. Among the crowd were elected officials, Jewish leaders, and passionate supporters, united in their grief and determination to stand against hate and violence.
This gathering came just nine days after Hamas terrorists launched a deadly attack on Israel, causing fear and devastation in their wake. But on Sunday, thousands of miles away, in the heart of Denver, the message was clear – COLORADO STANDS WITH ISRAEL.
Two of the state's senators, Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper, joined forces to send a strong message to Israel and the world. "This country will make sure that Israel has the resources to fight back," they said in a joint statement.
The governor of Colorado, Jared Polis, also made an appearance at the rally, speaking passionately about the need to come together and reject all forms of hatred and bigotry. "These evil acts of terrorism are our greatest fears brought to life," he stated, adding that Colorado will not tolerate any type of discrimination towards any group of people.
As the first Jewish governor in Colorado history, Polis spoke from a place of personal experience and understanding. He urged everyone to stand in solidarity with Israel and its people, to be a shining example of hope and resilience.
The rally was organized by the Israeli American Council, and its members were overwhelmed by the support shown by the people of Colorado.
Hezy Shalev, an Israeli living in the state, emphasized how important it was for Israel to feel supported during this difficult time. He also noted the significance of standing up against hate and spreading love instead.
State Representative Ron Weinberg, who has family still living in Israel, expressed his gratitude for the rally and said he would share photos with them to bring them hope and comfort.
Former Denver mayor and state governor, John Hickenlooper, acknowledged the importance of standing up for the Jewish community and pushing back against hate. He promised to do everything in his power to help those affected by the attacks and to bring closure to those who have lost loved ones.
The rally ended with a solemn prayer for peace and unity, a reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is strength in coming together. As the people of Colorado showed today, love will always prevail over hate.
