Barbora Hurd, wife of congressional candidate Jeff Hurd, shared her powerful journey to becoming a U.S. citizen in a new digital ad released by her husband's campaign. Her story of growing up under communist rule in Czechoslovakia and eventually finding freedom in America is one that resonates deeply with many conservatives.

In the 3-minute, 30-seconds ad, Barbora speaks of the struggles her family faced under "authoritarian government" and the constant suppression of dissenting voices. "We lived with shortages, inefficiencies, and lies from our government," she recalls. As a person of faith, Barbora also highlights the discrimination and persecution her family faced under the communist regime.

"Under the communism, we lived with shortages, inefficiencies, lies from our government. The communist regime was hostile to religious families like mine, discriminating against and sometimes persecuting those who practice their faith. When communism fell, my entire world changed,” Barbora Hurd.

But her life changed when communism fell, and she was able to visit the United States as a high school foreign exchange student. She later immigrated to America and became a citizen in front of her husband and children.

"Not a day goes by without me thinking how privileged I am to live in freedom in the United States," she says, emphasizing the importance of never taking that freedom for granted.

Barbora's story is a powerful reminder of the American Dream and the sacrifices people make to come to this great nation. She recognizes the need for leaders with vision, integrity, and character in today's political climate and believes her husband, Jeff Hurd, is one of those leaders.

"Not a day goes by without me thinking how privileged I am to live in freedom in the United States, but I know that we can't take this freedom for granted. America needs leaders with vision, integrity and character, especially today, or we risk the dangers of becoming the kind of country I personally know way too well," Barbora Hurd.

Married for 18 years with five children, Barbora describes Jeff as a loving husband, father, and hardworking individual. "What you see is what you get with Jeff," she says, praising his devotion and work ethic. "If elected to Congress, Jeff will serve this district and our country with honor and integrity."

The ad, which will run on digital platforms throughout the Republican-leaning 3rd Congressional District, is a testament to Barbora and Jeff's commitment to conservative values and the American Dream. The Hurds represent the hardworking and patriotic individuals that make up the fabric of this country and are determined to protect the freedoms and values that make America exceptional.

Their opponent, two-term incumbent Rep. Lauren Boebert, narrowly won reelection last year. Boebert made history as the youngest woman ever elected to Congress and has proven to be a strong and outspoken advocate for conservative values. However, her primary challengers believe it is time for a change and are ready to offer new leadership in the district.

In addition to Jeff Hurd, Carbondale Republican Russ Andrews is also running for the seat. On the Democratic side, former state Sen. Don Coram, who previously lost to Boebert in the primary, is throwing his support behind other Republican candidates, including Jeff Hurd's main opponent, Grand Junction Mayor Anna Stout. Pueblo resident Adam Withrow is also vying for the nomination.

The 3rd Congressional District primary is shaping up to be a highly competitive race, with several third-party candidates also running.
