President Joe Biden's recent remarks criticizing Israel's government and suggesting a waning U.S. support for the country's military campaign has reminded many of the Biden administration's many recent foreign policy failures.

Speaking at a Democratic donor event, Biden called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to change his government and accused it of being the most conservative in Israel's history, claiming that it does not want a two-state solution.

These comments, delivered at an off-camera fundraiser, showcase Biden's candidness on the ongoing conflict, a departure from his previous public support for Netanyahu's government. While Biden has privately urged Netanyahu to minimize civilian casualties, there seems to be a growing gap between Israel's intentions and the realities on the ground.

The Biden administration's stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is becoming increasingly divergent from that of Israel.

U.S. officials have been pressuring Israel to plan for the post-war situation in Gaza, including the possibility of an eventual Palestinian state. The U.S. has also been pushing for the opening of the Kerem Shalom border crossing to allow direct humanitarian aid trucks into Gaza, warning against any proposal that involves Israeli control over the territory.

However, the Israeli government has been resistant to these demands.

While it recently allowed aid trucks to be inspected at Kerem Shalom, they still need to drive back through Egypt before entering Gaza through the Rafah crossing. The bottleneck at the Rafah crossing remains unresolved, hindering the delivery of essential supplies to the Palestinian people.

Israel's decision to cut off all commercial and humanitarian aid traffic from Israel into Gaza following Hamas's attack has further complicated the situation. The Israeli government has vowed to sever all ties with Gaza, which has led to growing displacement and increased the need for immediate assistance.
