President Joe Biden's recent admission that the southern border is not secure has sparked criticism from conservatives, highlighting the hypocrisy of the Biden administration's border policy.

Biden’s comments came just moments after expressing confusion over Republicans' move to impeach Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas, Biden even acknowledged the lack of security at the southern border.

While Biden's supplemental package to fund Ukraine and Israel has faced delays in Congress due to debates on border security initiatives, the situation at the border has worsened under Mayorkas' leadership. Federal data reveals that in the 2022 fiscal year, U.S. Border Patrol encountered over 2.2 million migrants crossing the southern border, and this number surpassed 2 million in the 2023 fiscal year.

During a press conference, Fox News White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich questioned Biden about the Republican efforts to impeach Mayorkas. Biden responded with apparent bewilderment, stating, "I don't get it."

However, moments later, when asked about the security of the border, Biden admitted, "No, it's not." He further emphasized, "I haven't believed that for the last 10 years, and I've said it for the last 10 years. Give me the money."

In an attempt to address the border crisis, Biden and White House officials met with Congressional leaders, including House Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. The goal was to reach a compromise and move forward with the spending bills. Johnson indicated that the Ukraine funding may be separated from the border funding to ensure the bills' passage through Congress.

In a significant development Sunday, the Texas Department of Public Safety has taken action to combat illegal border crossings. Arrests of undocumented migrants have begun in Shelby Park, a public park along the southern border in Eagle Pass. The state of Texas has assumed control of the park and is actively arresting single adult men and women, charging them with criminal trespassing. Lt. Chris Olivarez, a spokesperson for the Texas Department of Public Safety, emphasized the state's commitment to curbing illegal border crossings between ports of entry.

This move by Texas follows the state's defiance of a cease-and-desist letter from the Biden administration. The Department of Homeland Security had accused Texas of denying Border Patrol access to Shelby Park. Despite the federal government's demand, Texas stood its ground and was given until Wednesday to allow federal access to the area.

The admission by President Biden regarding the lack of border security, coupled with the ongoing debate over funding for Ukraine and Israel, highlights the inconsistency and hypocrisy of the Biden administration's approach to border policy. As the crisis at the southern border continues to escalate, conservatives are urging the administration to take immediate action to secure the border and protect the nation's sovereignty.
